Introducing Therapeutic BDSM
Transform with an Alternative Form of Healing
Experience a unique, trauma-informed approach to healing that combines the depth of therapy with the power of consensual BDSM practices.
Our Therapeutic Approach
We offer a revolutionary therapeutic approach that integrates traditional therapy with consensual BDSM practices. Our trauma-informed method is designed to help individuals address deep-seated trauma, enhance self-awareness, and transform their relationships with themselves and others. By combining the emotional insights of therapy with the structured, consensual nature of BDSM, we provide a safe and supportive environment for profound personal growth and healing.
Our mission is to create a ‘Brave Space’ where clients can explore and heal from their past traumas. Through guided BDSM experiences, we aim to empower individuals to reclaim their power and rewrite their personal narratives. Our approach is deeply rooted in empathy, consent, and clinical expertise, ensuring that each client’s journey is both safe and transformative.
The Therapeutic BDSM Process
Therapeutic BDSM is not a quick fix—it’s a carefully guided journey. The process typically begins with approximately six months of therapy using Self-Reconciliation Therapy with a trained therapist. This process may be longer of shorter depending upon your current state which is why we provide an approximation. This stage is crucial for exploring your emotional landscape, identifying areas of healing, and building the internal tools necessary for a potential therapeutic BDSM scene.
1
Initial Therapy Phase
Begin with approximately six months of Self-Reconciliation Therapy with a licensed clinician to explore your emotional landscape and build the necessary internal tools for healing.
2
Assessment and Readiness
Once you and your therapist determine your readiness, you’ll meet with a vetted professional BDSM practitioner to discuss your specific needs and goals for the therapeutic scene.
3
Collaborative Scene Execution
Your therapist and pro practitioner will work together to ensure a safe and supportive BDSM experience, with ongoing communication and clinical support throughout the process.
Non-Sexual Scenes
Non-Sexual: The therapeutic BDSM scenes are non-sexual in nature. As conceptualized by The Therapeutic BDSM Collaborative Network (TBCN), “non-sexual” means there is no explicit sexual activity. These scenes are designed to help you process emotions, address trauma, and rescript your relationship with past experiences without crossing into sexual territory.
Sensations: While BDSM can involve physical sensations and power dynamics, the focus here is on therapeutic intervention rather than sexual connection.
Frequently Asked Questions
We understand that you may have many questions about the Therapeutic BDSM process. Here are some of the most commonly asked questions and their answers to help you understand what to expect.
What does the process involve?
Once you determine that Therapeutic BDSM is something you are interested in you would reach out for a consultation. Upon the completion of the consultation you will be referred to a clinican in the Collaborative Network to begin the therapeutic process. During that time, you will engage in regular therapy sessions with a licensed clinician trained in Self-Reconciliation Therapy. Once you and your therapist determine you are ready, your clincian will seek a referral from an internal directory to be matched with a pro within the area. A meeting will be set for all parties to discuss the next steps for a therapeutic scene.
How much does it cost?
The cost of Therapeutic BDSM varies depending on the therapist and the professional practitioner you work with, as both set their own rates. You will need to discuss pricing directly with your clinician and pro practitioner. Keep in mind that your therapist’s fees may be covered by insurance, but this depends on your provider and coverage. You will be responsible for paying for both services.
Will insurance cover the cost of therapy?
Insurance may or may not cover the therapeutic costs, depending on your plan and provider. We recommend discussing your options with your therapist during your initial consultation to determine whether insurance can be applied to your sessions.
Can I work with any therapist?
You must work with a therapist licensed in the state where you reside. This ensures compliance with state laws and helps you receive the best possible care. We offer virtual therapy sessions, which are available in most states.
Is therapy ongoing throughout the entire process?
Yes, therapy is an essential part of the process, continuing throughout your work with the pro practitioner. The clinician and pro communicate regularly to ensure the client’s experiences during BDSM scenes are fully integrated and processed in therapy.
How do I know if I’m ready for Therapeutic BDSM?
Readiness is determined collaboratively between you and your therapist after engaging in about six months of Self-Reconciliation therapy. Your emotional and psychological well-being will be the top priority throughout the process to ensure that you enter the scene fully prepared.
